Eagles Trounce Tri-Colours
The Sydney Hills Eagles triumphed over the favourites Ainslie on Saturday afternoon at Bruce Purser Reserve finishing 56 points ahead at the final siren. Ainslie were highly fancied by the punters heading into the match at after their dominant 9-goal victory over the Eagles earlier in the season.
The game marked a significant occasion for the club with Ted Strudwick gracing the hallowed turf at Bruce Purser for the final time in 2014, prior to heading overseas on a mission set to him by the European government to break as many hearts as humanly possible. The ladies (and men) were out in force and there was not a dry eye in the stands. With short shorts and oiled up shaved legs, he didn’t disappoint.
Division Four v North Shore Round 10
On a glorious sunny morning we headed over to Gore Hill Oval to take on the North Shore Bombers.
1st Quarter: The game started with both teams looking to gain a quick break. Whilst we enjoyed the bulk of the possessions, we struggled to put it on the scoreboard - often our kicks into our forward line were rushed resulting in turnovers. Our intensity was good - execution not so good. A good block by Steve Acland allowed Fisher to get the ball to Leggot, onto Strongy for a near miss. Our next entry saw "Doc" win a centre clearance and nail a pass lace out to Joel Thomas who kicked truly. With Owen doing what he does down back, marking everything in sight, he passed well to Doyle, to "Dr: Loveday who kicked a ripper to big John Hobby who marked strongly - sadly, only a point! A real hard in by J Lo won a free kick & converted.
1/4 time scores: EAGLES 2 - 3 15 BOMBERS 2 - 1 13

Recognition for Eagles Volunteers
To mark National Volunteers Week 2013 the Sydney Hills Eagles paid tribute to our wonderful army of volunteers by sending them off to the GWS Giants v Adelaide Crows fixture at SKODA Stadium. Each week our crew of volunteers man the BBQ, work in the canteen, wash the jersey's, clean the rooms, fill the water bottles and umpire our games. Without them we wouldn't exist. Thank you to all the wonderful people who give of their time for the Eagles.
We are always looking for more volunteers to help on game day. If you're available, please visit the Volunteer section of our website.
